Retro Blue, the American Sister of San Lorenzo SD 92
This Italian shipbuilder is very flexible when it comes to satisfying his clients’ needs. They noticed that the potential buyers from North America or Asia had different requirements as they want to sail in different climate than the European ones. Therefore, they have designed yachts which are adjusted for any customer around the world considering not only the climate but also cultural differences.
Sanlorezo Americas is an American branch of the Italian shipyard. They supply the North American market with boats that can offer much more than only 110 V/60 Hz sockets for the U.S. appliances. The yachts are also equipped with much stronger Air-conditioning units as they often cruise in the tropical climate. And the list goes on, because Sanlorenzo always strives for perfection.
Retro Blue is a yacht they can be rightly proud of. She is a true, classy Sanlorenzo enriched of some impressive features customized specially for American clients.
Let’s Go on a Tour around Retro Blue
This yacht is undoubtedly a charmer. Just when you look at it, the cappuccino colour of the hull evokes the atmosphere of an old photograph and as soon as you step onboard, you feel like being in the old black and white movies.
It is important to mention that Retro Blue is a project of the Italian designer Francesco Paszkowski and the American interior designer Marty Lowe. They take us back in time and let us enjoy these retro vibes. Retro Blue is very stylish, but does not lack smart innovations.
Both of the gifted designers have added some of their personal touches.
Paszkowski and Lowe’s Cooperation
The yacht design was inspired by the thirties and forties transatlantic liners. Both of the designers added traditional details to a modern semi custom yacht, but also each of them implemented some contemporary features as well.
Mr. Paszkowski created a simulated funnel. It is in the place of the radar arch. His work is also the teak decking and two locker-like fiberglass appliances consoles. These consoles are topped with the mahagony and there are louvered-fiberglass cabinet doors in the front.
Marty Lowe took a similar path. She got inspired by the prestigious yacht clubs and blue blazers with crested buttons and she incorporated lots of decorative components which evoke an atmosphere of that era. The best examples of that inspiration are the two L-shaped sofas aft with white and blue striped canvas cushions.
Worth mentioning is also the winding staircase from the main deck to the lower deck. Their staircase is much safer and better to climb, because it has a bigger radius and therefore it is easier to use.
